XBMC iPhone Remote
I’m working on an iPhone remote for XBMC on the latest SDK.
Things are coming along pretty good, and should be able to release to the app store within the next week or so.
Until then here’s a preview.

Looks great! Can’t wait for this to be released!
Suggestions:
- Removing the top bar for more space
- Use the same icons as apple for rew, pause, fwd
- Putting icons on bottom menu
Thanks for the feedback Andemat.
What top bar are you referring to ?
Yeah, I need to sort out the icons! The transport icons won’t be a problem, but I need to find appropriate icons for the tab bar.
I was referring to the top of the screen (carrier, wifi, time). But on the other hand i guess someone would find it handy beeing there. Or you could turn it black. Minor detail anyway
Good luck with your icons! If you still haven’t found any by the end of the week I’ll personally try to create some and send to you (99% risk of beeing ugly
Idea
I read your thread at xbmc and saw you mentioned a upside-down-remote feature. Cool! Will you incorporate a cover flow mode in landscape orientation? And how about a matrix-mode in upside-down landscape for album browsing - maybe 7×5 tiles without text and space between them, draggable like the springboard?
I guess it’s possible to turn it off though I think it’s pretty standard to have it there unless your app is in a full screen state (like say a cover flow view)
Cheers, I’ll keep you updated on the icons.
In regards to the coverflow , matrix and other views to represent the media I’ve been thinking about this but will probably look at implementing these types of things in a subsequent release. But yeah both these things would be cool ![]()
Can you search your music library from the iPhone? This would be great for remote playback.
BTW this looks great!
ahh looks great can’t wait ’til get my hands on this neat app
decided if it will be a free release or paid app?
I’m thinking it might be a paid app, but at small cost ($3 - $4). I want to try and cover my iphone development expenses but I’ll also donate 10% back to the XBMC project.
looks fair to me
i’d buy it ![]()
Hi Dave,
Big fan! Love the Ramsay Translator LOL.
Couldn’t see any way to email you but been looking for a Melbourne-based developer for an iphone project. Keen to discuss pls email me back.
Cheers,
Waynew.
What about localization, mate ?
I can translate it in french if needed ![]()
Just a request/suggestion - since a few people have more than 1 XBMC in the household, could you perhaps add a button/dropdown that lets you choose which one to control?
@Brad: Yep it’s already in there! If you check out the next post in this blog I’ve put up a video which shows that feature in action.
Hey cheers for this got it today though one thing how do i add music and videos to the main page like yours as i have to go into more and then video sources same goes for music and the music is on the xbox though i don’t use library mode so could that be the problem. (haven’t a clue how to work library mode)
also a little bug when you swap over the icons on the bottom bar they don’t work and when you exit the app and open it again there reset apart from that and my media thing great app.
